Parent/Guardian-led STEM Lego League Explore Program
Teams of students will explore, build and program a motorized LEGO model and create a presentation while also learning critical thinking and teamwork skills. Teams will present what they have learned to judges at a celebratory exhibition. No previously experience is necessary for participants or parents/guardians. This season is called SUBMERGED, and focuses on our oceans. Over the 12-week season, your child will learn about ocean habitats, the animals that live there, and how scientists study them. Register your student now so they can join the fun! **Deadline to register is December 13, 2024** Teams are parent/guardian-led, so parents/guardians should expect to help teach at every meeting by following the structured curriculum. Co-coaches: Two parents will be designated as “co-coaches,” who will coordinate group emails and help keep the team on track. Meetings: Teams will have an hour meeting time at their desired school location between 5-8 p.m. LEGO League Explore is a great way to reinforce skills already used in the classroom while also strengthening parent/ guardian-child bonds. The season will culminate in an exhibit for all teams on May 3, 2025 Please note participants do not need to register at their home school. Elementary Chess Club
Join this club to meet and interact with other chess players in your school and play on a weekly basis. If they are new to the game, players will learn the basic rules and strategies of chess. Tournament play is encouraged outside of the club, but not required. Presented by CSGA Enrichment. Scratch Game Coding
This program offers a crash course in coding your own games in Scratch. Students will create and develop 3-4 basic games while learning many foundational programming skills with boundless potential for creativity and expansion. Tailored for the beginner with little to no experience coding on Scratch, we will begin with the basics and have students creating their own detailed, personalized games by the end of the program. Grow your own garden—inside! In this fun class, you’ll learn how to grow plants using just water. This is called hydroponic growing. TinkerCAD Design & 3D Printing
Challenge your creativity by designing 3D objects and then print your designs. Learn about scale when prototyping a design that is not at full-size. Also design an object that is at functional scale and usable! We will be using 3D printers and CAD software. Design challenges will be based on student experience if they have used the equipment and software previously.
