This program is for players of all grades and ages interested in participating and competing in tournament chess, or just want their chess ability to improve to the next tactical level. Players will meet Saturday morning online for chess instruction and fun competitive play. Face to face, sanctioned tournament play is strongly encouraged as well. Expert coaching will be provided for participants at many tournaments. Perfect for students who want extra challenges beyond their school clubs. This program is for players in high school interested in participating and competing in “over the board” OTB tournament chess. Face to face lessons will be longer with the purpose of competing as a team. Teams generally consist of players from the same grade and school. A minimum of 3 players are needed to be competitive. The top 22 students will be invited to participate that are rated 1,000 and higher. Otherwise, the top 13 students will be invited. Tournament fees are an additional cost if participants choose to participate in those extra events. Parents will be invited to participate in the “ISD 621 Chess Team Booster Club”.
