Elementary Chess Club
Youth Activities (K-12 grade) / Elementary / Strategy games -
Fall 2024
Whether you consider yourself a beginner or intermediate player, join this club to meet and interact with other chess players in your school and play on a weekly basis. If they are new to the game, players will learn the basic rules and strategies of chess. Tournament play is encouraged outside of the club, but not required. The Fall Tournament will be held in January, after the Winter Break. Presented by CSGA Enrichment.
Players are able to complete a full game and recognize a checkmate and stalemate
Players can set and use a chess clock during a game
Players are able to resolve a disagreement with & w/o adults present
Players can explain the rules of chess (movement of the pieces, checkmate, & stalemate)
Reduced Fees & Financial Assistance:
Youth who are residing within the Mounds View Public Schools boundaries and currently qualify for educational benefits and/or free/reduced lunch may be eligible for reduced fees and partial scholarships to qualifying Enrichment & Activities programs. Financial support is provided by the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf, District Community Education Scholarship fund and other community donors. Qualifying Enrichment and Activities will have a Financial Support/Educational Benefits fee rate that is 50% of the full fee for the program.
