District Open Chess Tournament
Youth Activities (K-12 grade) / Elementary / Strategy games -
Winter/Spring 2025
Elementary and secondary chess players are invited to participate in the District Open Chess Tournament. Whether you participated in a chess club or not in the fall, winter, or spring, you are invited to compete in this short, fun tournament where you can play students from other schools and districts.
- Time controls will be used when necessary to keep the tournament within time constraints.
- The format and recognition will be based on the number of registered participants in each grade level and school.
- Anticipated sections will be Secondary 7th-12th, Invitational Elementary (Top Club Players), Open Elementary K-1st & 2nd-6th.
- Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins will be accepted.
- Tournament etiquette and procedures will be explained at the event for players new to tournament play.
- Players are not eliminated. Everyone plays in each round unless there is a bye because of an odd number of participants. Typically there are 4-5 rounds.
- Check-in will be 30 minutes before the posted start time.
A great way to end the Chess season.
Concessions Available: Breakfast, Lunch & Snack Items
Supervision will be provided. Parents/guardians are allow to stay, but are not allowed in the playing area and will be asked to wait in the lobby area.
