The Math Masters mathematics competition program challenges 5th grade students to use critical thinking and problem-solving skills in mathematics. The program will begin with four weeks of preparation sessions, twice weekly. Students will complete practice tests to become familiarized with the formatting and difficulty of the various tests. These sessions will also be used to review the answers and discuss the solutions and strategies involved. On the day of the competition, students compete as individuals and on teams in 7-8 rounds of competition. Their academic effort and achievement will be recognized with plaques, medallions and ribbons. Math Masters participants will compete on Friday, April 25th in Shoreview. Transportation will be provided, and families are welcome to attend the event as spectators. Though there is no specific requirement for participation, participants should have a passion for solving challenging mathematics problems and be willing to work both individually and as a team with other participants.

Reduced Fees & Financial Assistance:

Youth who are residing within the Mounds View Public Schools boundaries and currently qualify for educational benefits and/or free/reduced lunch may be eligible for reduced fees and partial scholarships to qualifying Enrichment & Activities programs. Financial support is provided by the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf, District Community Education Scholarship fund and other community donors. Qualifying Enrichment and Activities will have a Financial Support/Educational Benefits fee rate that is 50% of the full fee for the program.
