Boys BasketballMiddle School SportsIntramural basketball focuses on skill building, teamwork, and sportsmanship. All boys in grades 6-8 are encouraged to participate; no experience necessary!! Activity buses are available after practice for eligible students. Transportation will be provided to and from schools on game days - this bus will not bring students home, individual transportation home will need to be arranged by participants on competition evenings. Discover the Art of SoapmakingAdult Activities & EnrichmentJoin John Hanson, owner of Longfellow Soap Company, for a 2.5-hour class on the ancient art of cold-process soap making. With over 15 years of soap-making experience and 12 years of teaching, John has taught more than 500 students and earned the nickname “Bob Ross of Soap Making.” Each student will receive a teaching manual, three bars of soap and guidance on ingredients, equipment and techniques. This is a demonstration/lecture as lye is used in making soap and is perfect for anyone eager to learn this timeless craft!Winter/Spring 2025

Tristan Martin (flickr) (CC BY 2.0)District Open Chess TournamentStrategy gamesElementary and secondary chess players are invited to participate in the District Open Chess Tournament. Whether you participated in a chess club or not in the fall, winter, or spring, you are invited to compete in this short, fun tournament where you can play students from other schools and districts. Time controls will be used when necessary to keep the tournament within time constraints. The format and recognition will be based on the number of registered participants in each grade level and school. Anticipated sections will be Secondary 7th-12th, Invitational Elementary (Top Club Players), Open Elementary K-1st & 2nd-6th. Pre-registration is encouraged, but walk-ins will be accepted. Tournament etiquette and procedures will be explained at the event for players new to tournament play. Players are not eliminated. Everyone plays in each round unless there is a bye because of an odd number of participants. Typically there are 4-5 rounds. Check-in will be 30 minutes before the posted start time. A great way to end the Chess season. Concessions Available: Breakfast, Lunch & Snack Items Supervision will be provided. Parents/guardians are allow to stay, but are not allowed in the playing area and will be asked to wait in the lobby area.Winter/Spring 2025
