Instead of just playing games, you’ll be building them from the ground up—designing characters, levels, and challenges. Explore the world of robotics using LEGO®'s Systems. Build cars and dragsters with motors and sensors to explore the environment. Students working in teams will be introduced to robotics fun and learn about the programming process along the way. Every day students will explore a different car model, and on the last day, take what they learn to create their own car and compete in a racing tournament. Presented by Tech Academy. Designed by the experts at MIT, this unique system teaches children about simple machines, engineering, programming, and so much more. Young imaginations soar! The LEGO® Education WeDo Robotics Builder class allows students to explore different concepts in robotics. Run With the Wolves - 5K & Kids Fun Run!Run with the WolvesRun with the Wolves is the annual 5K and Fun Run to support Island Lake Elementary. Come out for a great morning of activity, with either a kids "Fun Run" around the school, or a 5K Fun Run through the neighborhood adjacent to the school! 100% of the proceeds go to supporting the students of Island Lake Elementary. Race Check-in begins at 8am for both the 5k & fun Run at the Playground off Vivian Ave! Kids Fun Run - Start time 8:30 a.m. Ages 12 and under! A single lap around the Island Lake School campus. 5K Fun Run - Start Time 9 a.m. Ages 6+ This is a 5K (3.1 mile) fun run through the neighborhood adjacent to Island Lake.
